About Rock Springs Professional Firefighters

Rock Springs Professional Fire Fighters IAFF Local 1499 has worked with the Rock Springs Fire Department and the City of Rock Springs since 1964.

Local 1499 has continued to promote and adopt changes within the fire service as the RSFD and Local 1499 have grown from just Fire responses to Extrication, Rescue, Hazmat, and Emergency Medical Services. Regional Response Team 4 is a Hazmat team of RSFF Local members in conjunction with the RSFD that will respond to  hazmat calls in Southwest Wyoming. Emergency Medical Services continue to grow as the population of Rock Springs expands.  EMS calls represent over half of calls responded to as the RSFD and Local 1499 work to provide initial response by highly trained Fire personnel.

Together programs have continued to teach our community members.  These include Fire Prevention week at local schools, Fire Tours at your neighborhood fire house, Car Seat Technicians, and Juvenile Fire Setters.

Toys for Kids is a yearly toy drive for those in need supported by Local 1499, RSFD, and the wonderful wives and friends of Local 1499.

Local 1499 has various fund raising activities throughout the year. These funds go directly back to the community in the form of donations to local clubs, charitable organizations, school programs, and those in need.
